A rucking app

Every step priced for the weight you carry.

FueledRuck is a rucking tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch. The live map is the hero, and every number under it comes from load-carriage physics the US Army uses to plan marches, so calories, pace and training load reflect what was on your back.

Why weight changes everything

Most trackers treat a ruck like a walk.

A 30 lb pack changes what a mile costs, and sand or brush changes it again. FueledRuck runs the Pandolf load-carriage equation (USARIEM, 1977), with the Santee downhill correction, on every GPS fix. Body weight, load, speed, grade and terrain all count.

The same number drives everything downstream: the energy total, the fuel and hydration plan, training load, and the guardrails that flag a week that jumps too fast.

M = 1.5W + 2.0(W+L)(L/W)² + η(W+L)(1.5V² + 0.35VG)W body mass · L load · V speed · G grade · η terrain factor · M in watts

Flat ground. The app also counts grade, second by second, and the downhill correction. Estimates, not lab measurements.

A tour

Built for the ruck, before, during and after.

3D replay flying over Brooklyn in satellite view, with distance, time, heart rate and an elevation profile
See how it went

Fly the ruck back in 3D.

Every ruck replays as a pitched flyover on real terrain, with distance, time and heart rate ticking along and the elevation profile underneath. It stops at the photos you took and exports as a vertical video for a story.

  • Photos from your library pinned on the route where you took them, even with Camera location off
  • Share cards with the route, your best three photos and the numbers

Where it got hard

The route, painted by effort.

Each map colors itself by heart-rate zone, pace, grade or elevation. Splits carry heart rate and grade, personal bests are kept by load class, and a weekly load-mile trend shows the real training volume, because a mile at 45 lb isn't a mile at 20.

  • Five heart-rate zones by max, reserve or your own numbers, live on the phone and wrist
  • Grade-adjusted pace, cadence and step length
Fuel plan: 25 oz of water and 15 g of carbs to pack, drinking and carb guidance, and a sweat rate
Fuel and hydration

Pack the right water.

Before you step off, FueledRuck estimates your sweat rate from the load, the pace and the weather, and tells you what to carry. On the ruck, drink and carb cues arrive on your wrist and in your ear. At the finish, it says what you lost and what to put back.

  • Grounded in ACSM fluid and carbohydrate guidance
  • One tap logs each drink, so the refuel math is yours, not a guess
Safety sheet: back by 11:04 AM, a live link marked LIVE, and a check-in contact with Text my location
Solo rucks

Someone should know.

Set a back-by time and FueledRuck checks in with you. Share a live link that anyone can open in a browser, no app needed: route so far, distance, time and check-in time. It turns red if you're overdue and deletes itself a day later.

  • Add 30 minutes or mark yourself safe right from the notification
  • Text your location to your check-in contact in one tap

Train for the real thing

Plans that bend to your log.

Pick a standard or an event and FueledRuck builds the weeks to get there. It raises work no more than ten percent a week, steps back every fourth week, and repeats a week when life gets in the way. A ten-second check-in after each ruck (effort, shoulders, feet, blisters) tunes the next one.

  • Ranger 12-miler, British CFT, Norwegian Foot March, the FueledRuck ladder, and events on your calendar
  • A live ahead-or-behind clock on the map while you ruck a standard

Apple Watch

Leave the phone at home.

The Watch app rucks on its own: its own GPS and heart rate, load-aware energy in place of Apple's walking estimate, and the workout saved to Apple Health with the route. Turn the Digital Crown to set the load. When the phone is along, the Watch mirrors it instead, with pause and finish on the wrist.

Status

In beta on TestFlight now.

FueledRuck 1.0 is open to testers on TestFlight ahead of the App Store. It's made by Apex Made, a family studio in Florida.

Open the link on your iPhone. It installs TestFlight, Apple's beta app, then FueledRuck. Spots are limited while we're in beta.

Once you're in
  1. Tap Join on TestFlight on your iPhone and follow Apple's steps. Pro is free inside TestFlight, so try everything.
  2. Go ruck. Check that the map turns with you, the fuel cues land at sensible times, and the finish screen makes sense.
  3. Take photos on the way, then tap "Took photos on this ruck?" afterward to see them on the route.
  4. Try the Watch alone with the phone left at home, and a live link sent to a friend.
  5. Tell us what breaks. Screenshot inside the app to send feedback through TestFlight, or email us.
